Walking Away

Well the time has come for “what’s new”
And “let’s change”
Heartache from yesterday is still within
The time for “let’s change” is long overdue
And all I can say is “Honeychild, I am
Still feeling the pain of yesterday ‘cause it’s
Hurtin’ me today
The only way for tomorrow that statement won’t
Be true
It is for me to say “Honeychild, I am
Over the mountain, through the storm I’ve fought
This battle ‘til I’m black and blue
Not much more that I can do
Honeychild, I am through
The only way to ease the stress away and put
On my best face to-day, it is for me to say
“Honeychild, I’m walking away”

In Six Words

I’ve become obsessed with micro everything. Short and to the point. I have a novel I’ve been working on for about four years now and still have not finished. I’m a woman of few words, but I like for my words to pack a punch, so I’ve been playing around with haiku and flash fiction lately. Here’s a couple that I’ve shared online so far.

Stories in Six Words on Hope and Pain:

  • It never ends like you planned.
  • Sometimes the sun shines at night.
  • It hurt badly, but I won.

Pursuing What is In Me

For years I’ve gone back and forth trying to decide if I would pursue my gift or if I would choose something else. What else would I choose? I’m not really sure, but I am sure about one thing: I can’t run from what is in my nature. I am a writer. Specifically, I am a poet. So, poetry it is. Thought I have learned many skills and have picked up bits and pieces of information about almost everything, poetry is at my core. Here is where I choose to share it with the world.
